Beverage Bottles

The Company:

The plastics industry has historically used conventional dye chemistry for coloring PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) beverage containers.  Our clients were no different.  These dyes were reliable and, most importantly, FDA compliant.

The Case:

With the price of raw materials increasing globally, we considered how we could innovate around these cost pressures.  More economical alternatives could possibly be available—but FDA compliancy, color space, and high chroma were non-negotiable requirements.

The Solution:

We undertook a series of FDA migration and polymer compatibility studies to develop the
Keyplast line of FDA Dyes for PET (Polyethylene terephthalate).  These highly chromatic dyes are 50% stronger than those commonly used, meet FDA regulations, and are far less sensitive to supply and price fluctuations.  We continue to build on this palette of unique dyes to support trends within the PET, PET-G, and PET/co-polymers beverage container market.
