The Company: Our client is a leading manufacturer of laundry detergents, fabric softeners, and other household products in North America. The organization is dedicated to providing value to their customers—and in being a steward of the environment by lowering the adverse impact of its manufacturing, transportation, products, and packaging on society where possible.
The Case: A key ingredient in one of their more popular detergent brands was producing unusually large volumes of dust in all facilities where it was being used. Although dust collectors were in place, the air particle contamination was still a health and safety concern. Rather than add equipment—and thereby increase energy consumption—leadership stood by its core values to innovate and asked us to help.
The Solution Keystone developed Keyfluor White 5BM-GX—a low dusting alternative that not only alleviated the initial problem, but offered the opportunity to remove the dust collectors from the production area altogether. Our formulation was also 25% stronger than their original ingredient—meaning fewer raw materials would be needed; leading to lowered inventory costs. We also obtained approval to list the Keyfluor White 5BM-GX on the CleanGredients database—the source of formulations pre-approved by the U.S. EPA to meet the criteria of their Safer Choice Standard—matching our client’s commitment to the environment and to their customers.
